Join us in Stone Mountain State Park for a hemlock treatment volunteer workday on Tuesday, March 11th, from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Hemlock trees are an essential and irreplaceable part of western North Carolina’s forests, but for over 20 years, they’ve been under threat from the hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA)—an invasive insect that can kill trees in as little as four years.

Help us protect these hemlocks from HWA at the beautiful Stone Mountain State Park along the East Prong Roaring River – a great spot for someone wanting to treat hemlocks on flatter, more accessible terrain. We don’t often get out to this part of the state, so we’re excited to see you there!

Please note, volunteers will be working with insecticide and moving through the forest off trail. Every volunteer will be paired with an experienced, licensed professional who will provide instruction and guidance.

In case of inclement weather, the backup date will be the following day, Wednesday, March 12th.

Reach out to Ayla at volunteer@savehemlocksnc.org or (828) 252-4783 with any questions. To register, fill out this form. More details will be provided after registration.
