Join the Hemlock Restoration Initiative on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at the the Western North Carolina Nature Center’s 41st annual Hey Day. Hey Day is a family-friendly celebration of the environment, culture, and community of western North Carolina. This year’s festival will feature games, arts and crafts, educational animal programs, live music, local food vendors, and of course, a wide variety of exciting wildlife!
The Hemlock Restoration Initiative will be on hand to provide information about the plight of our native hemlocks, solutions to the problem of hemlock woolly adelgid infestation, and how you can get involved. We will also highlight the importance of hemlock forests to various wildlife and Buncombe County’s efforts to help our hemlocks through the Bringing Beetles to Buncombe biological control program.
The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Nature Center is located at 75 Gashes Creek Rd., Asheville, NC 28805. Regular Nature Center admission rates apply and Friends of WNC Nature Center members receive free admission.
