Join the Hemlock Restoration Initiative for a special Halloween-edition educational hike at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st at one of North Carolina’s spookiest hemlock stands: the aged McCall family cemetery. We will walk along the Long Branch Loop Trail and pass hemlocks both alive and dead (gasp! spooky!!) before we reach the cemetery.
Along the way, we’ll discuss hemlock ecology, their biggest threat (hemlock woolly adelgid), and what you can do to help. We will also talk a little about the history of the McCall cemetery when we reach it. The hike will total about 2 miles along fairly gentle terrain.

The trail is located about 2.5 past the Cove Creek campground on Davison River Road. Parking is fairly limited in the general vicinity of the trail, so please carpool if at all possible.
The back-up weather date for this hike will be on November 8th at 2pm.
For any questions, contact Olivia Hall at education@savehemlocksnc.org or 828-252-4783. While the hike is free to attend, your RSVP is required, and space is limited. Please sign up by Sunday, October 26th by filling out this form. More details about meeting location and what to bring will be provided upon registration.
