Saturday, September 18th from 5-9 p.m., Eda Rhyne Distilling Company is holding a celebration of the release of their newest spirit, Pinnix Gin. Eda Rhyne will be generously donating 20% of proceeds from all drink and bottle sales that evening to the Hemlock Restoration Initiative!

The Pinnix gin from this Asheville-based distillery is a bright, herbaceous, and balanced base spirit that gets its distinct flavor from foraged eastern hemlock. Your first taste of Pinnix is on the house and there will be a specially curated gin cocktail list for those who want more! The launch party will also feature hot dogs from Hot Dog Tuesday and music from @rotationsavl DJs: DJ Otto Maddox (@firstbornisdead) and DJ Deco (@salami_baby).

You can taste the new gin, purchase a delicious cocktail, and even get a tour of the distillery. HRI will have a small display highlighting the importance of hemlocks, what’s “bugging” them, and how people can get involved. Masks are required inside, but there is also an outdoor area (which will be covered in the event of rain).

So come on out and support hemlocks and this local company, eat some incredible food, and dance to some great music. Thank you to Eda Rhyne for their generous support and for featuring this special tree in their new spirit!

Pinnix Gin is named in honor of owner/distiller Rett Murphy’s great grandmother, Alma Pinnix, a brilliant businesswoman and avid gardener. Alma loved gardening so much, that she outgrew her own property and soon started sewing seeds and creating gardens around abandoned buildings, and forgotten spaces in Greensboro, NC. Her vision and commitment eventually earned her the recognition and help of the city of Greensboro and now many of those original gardens are still maintained by the city, who named a popular street after her. Alma Pinnix passed away while raking leaves in 1981.

Eda Rhyne Distillery is located at 101 Fairview Rd, Suite A, Asheville, NC 28803.
