Hosted by Basalm Mountain Trust, the HRI will be talking about the pest that is threatening forest health in our region and how organizations like the Hemlock Restoration Initiative are responding to the crisis. Outreach Associate, Sara deFosset will discuss hemlock trees in our Western North Carolina ecosystem, the invasive hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) that is threatening them, what is being done to combat this pest and what everyday folks can do to get involved in hemlock conservation.

The event, part of the regularly occurring Trust Talk lecture series, begins at 4:30 pm with a ‘Happy Half Hour’. The formal presentation begins at 5pm and lasts approximately 45 minutes with time for questions afterwards.
