Join HRI and the Highlands Biological Station for an educational walk to see and learn about the Old Growth Forests in Highlands, NC. You’ll get to see one of the oldest eastern hemlocks in North America among other magnificently large trees of all species.

Hemlock Treatment Demonstration
HRI will be leading a hemlock treatment demonstration on Tuesday, October 13th, from 4-7 PM. We will use the trees present at the Asheville Botanical Gardens to learn a variety of methods to treat hemlocks available to all landowners in North Carolina.
Hemlock Treatment Workshop with NC ForestHer
HRI and NC ForestHer will be leading a hemlock treatment workshop on Monday, November 9th, from 10AM-4PM. We will use the trees present at the workshop site to learn and practice a variety of methods to treat hemlocks available to all landowners in North Carolina. Participants will receive in-person instruction and hands-on practice.
