WNC Communities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Asheville, supports community development and agriculture initiatives across Western North Carolina.
WNC Communities is dedicated to providing a unique forum for leaders in the mountain region of North Carolina to convene, collaborate and carry out innovative programs to improve the quality of life for rural communities and enhance the economy of the agriculture sector.
Since 1946, WNC Communities and its predecessor organizations have helped launch numerous projects with positive and measurable impacts on rural Western North Carolina, including the WNC Farmers’ Market, WNC Agricultural Center, the NC Mountain State Fair, NC Arboretum, Agricultural Research Stations, the new WNC Regional Livestock Center, the new visitor center at DuPont State Forest, and over 200 organized communities throughout Western North Carolina.
The Hemlock Restoration Initiative is a WNC Communities program.
