Learn to treat your hemlocks!
Join the Hemlock Restoration Initiative and Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service for a demonstration and presentation to learn the fundamentals of treating hemlock trees to protect them from the invasive insect, hemlock woolly adelgid. Today hemlock management is simpler and less expensive than ever before!
The event will take place at the Henderson County Extension Center, 100 Jackson Park Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. RSVP to Steve Pettis by phone or email, (828) 697-4891 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
What does the event cover?
This program will teach landowners how to assess and treat their trees, giving them the tools necessary to manage their hemlocks’ health. An indoor presentation will provide background and context for the field portion of the training, emphasizing the ecological importance of hemlocks, the biology of HWA, other hemlocks pests, and an overview of chemical and biological control methods. We will use the trees present on the property to demonstrate and explain a variety of methods to chemically treat hemlocks available to all landowners in North Carolina.
